Product Description

All That Glitters Is Not Gold
Acrylic on Canvas | Framed Size: 100cm x 100cm
Inspired by the aftermath of the wildfires of 2026 near Conwy, Wales.

All That Glitters Is Not Gold is a powerful contemporary landscape painting inspired by the wildfire-scarred hills of the Sychnant Pass near Conwy, Wales. Expressive layers of fiery orange, deep red and charred black sweep across the hillside, contrasted with vivid new greens and an unexpectedly luminous turquoise sky. Rather than documenting the landscape literally, Helen Alice Johnson uses bold colour, repeated forms and energetic mark-making to capture the tension between destruction and regeneration. Delicate emerging ferns provide a particularly hopeful counterpoint to the burnt landscape, transforming the work into a meditation on resilience, renewal and our relationship with the natural world. Beautiful yet deliberately unsettling, the painting asks us to look beyond the seductive colours and consider the environmental reality from which they emerged.

This original painting is framed in a natural wooden float frame for a clean, contemporary finish that enhances the strong colour palette and architectural elements. The piece arrives ready to hang.
