Inspired by the tranquil lily pond at Bateman's, the Sussex home of Rudyard Kipling, I wanted to capture the ever-changing reflections of water, light and surrounding foliage rather than simply paint the landscape before me. Through expressive brushwork and layers of luminous colour, I explore the hidden rhythms and geometry within nature, creating a space where observation and abstraction meet. This painting is an invitation to pause, reflect and experience the quiet beauty and restorative power of the natural world.
