Garden Paintings

In 2022, Helen immersed herself in the study of gardens, traveling across the UK and Northern France to visit a wide range of cultivated landscapes—from formal historic gardens to wilder, more organic spaces. These visits served as the foundation for a series of abstract and semi-abstract paintings inspired by the layered beauty, structure, and atmosphere of garden environments. Drawing on the rich interplay of colour, pattern, and growth found in these spaces, her work seeks to capture not only the visual impressions but also the sensory and emotional responses evoked by time spent in nature. The resulting collection reflects a deep appreciation for the rhythms, textures, and quiet complexity of gardens as living, evolving works of art.
