This painting was a commission for a couple who were moving house and wanted a reminder of their garden before they moved. The chair, bathed in sunlight, it where Caitlin's grandpa sat, watching over the garden, during the April of lockdown in the UK in 2020. The view in the background is of the fells of the Lake District and a hen in the bottom right of the painting nods at the collection of chickens they had roaming the garden at the time. The painting is part of my Garden series, where I visit a garden each week in 2022 to seek inspiration for large abstract works.
