This painting is inspired by several visist to the North East Coast in Northumberland. I spent time painting by the sea, as well as wandering across the sands, taking in the atmosphere and beach combing for plastic. I used the plastic found on the beach to incorporate into the painting, as a reminder of the importance for us to look after our beautiful world. Sand from the beach has been mixed with the paint to create a textured ruggedness and the triquetra pattern has been taken from the motifs found on the clock tower in Tynemouth.
