A Colourful Life in my French Studio
During the summer months I @helenalicejohnsonartist collected abstract and semi abstract painting studies and sketches in my sketchbook from gardens and floral scenes around the UK and even one in Northern France, with a view to turning those preliminary painterly studies into large colourful and vibrant paintings back in my studio throughout the winter. This process has now started, with Gunby Hall and Gardens in Lincolnshire @nationaltrustcharity being the first of many garden paintings I hope to paint over the next few months. I love the way the texture of the acrylic paints lends itself to the greenery and gives a playful, impressionistic view of the garden. The patterned underpainting adds to a radiance outwards. Although this painting is not finished, it is well on the way, and I'd love it if you followed me to find out what the finished canvas looks like.
