Week 25: Chartres
Hello and welcome to Helen Alice Johnson Artist in a garden. Today I’m in a completely different garden to any of the ones I’ve done previously but I absolutely could not resist doing it. I love it! I am in Chartres, and I am in a street in Chartres and then ‘boom’! Here comes this lovely little garden where people have not been deterred by the lack of space and nature has almost taken over, with a little bit of help from man (people!)
It ticks all my boxes in terms of the relationship between man and nature and I just love it!
There is a café, flower boxes, trees growing out of the buildings, hollyhocks growing wild in the footpaths! And all looked over by the looming presence of Chartres Cathedral.
