This painting is inspired by Bagnoles de L'Orne in Northern France, a town close to my French studio. The River Vee runs through Bagnoles, but it is the lake that takes centre stage, and a beautiful bridge provides access over the lake as well as a view point for the town beyond. I spent a day here in the summer, painting 'en plein air' and planning for this painting and the other two that accompany it.
