This painting is inspired by Henley on Thames, in particular Temple Island, in the middle of the Thames River in Henley. I spent a morning at Henley, working en plein air by the banks of the river, watching rowers working with, and pushing hard against the natural forces of the river, and enjoyed all the visual as well as environmental stimulus that this provided for my painting.
