This painting is inspired by a visit to Sunbury on Thames. I painted the Walled Garden at Sunbury in 2022 as part of my garden series and wanted to revisit the area I spent the morning painting 'En Plein Air' by the banks of the river on a beautiful, but windy day. I am interested in the relationship between people and nature and often put symmetry in my work as a reflection of the impact of man on the environment. In this case, the trellis of the Middle Thames Yacht Club allows a symmetry within the freer landscape around.
