This painting is part of a collection of paintings inspired by a visit Richmond Lock and Weir in the Spring of 2023. I spent a morning painting on the Thames Path, gathering imagery from nature as well as from manmade interventions, which I then took back to the studio to create an abstract interpretation of the area. I often put symmetry in my paintings in the form of pattern, and the beautiful symmetry of the bridge at the Lock was too good to miss.
