This painting uses the triquetra symbol as its background pattern underpainting. I used this particular motif because the clock tower in Tynemouth, close to Hartley Bay where this painting takes its inspiration, has several triquetra patterns as part of its facade. As this is such a spiritual symbol, it seemed the perfect fit for my seascape paintings. The plastic on the painting was collected by me from the beach and hopes to highlight that even Blue Flag beaches such as this still impacted by human activity.
