This painting is inspired by a visit to Teddington Lock, where I sat in the café on the riverside and made some preparatory studies in my sketchbook, before coming back to my studio to create the final piece. The pattern used as the underpainting is taken from the iron structure of the bridge, and follows a basic hexagon repeat pattern.
