This painting is inspired by the garden of my French studio, where Primroses and dandilions poke through fallen leaves as well as other grasses and wild flowers. As soon as the snowdrops begin to herald the start of Spring, the Primroses are already poking through and ready to steal the show. The whole garden is literally a riot of colour in a completely random and beautiful spectacle. I used a fluorescent 5 pointed star underpainting for the image to echo the five petalled beauty of the Primrose.
