This large landscape painting is a contemporary winter landscape, inspired by the winters in the North Pennines, Cumbria, and snow in Northern France, where I live and work. It is a fusion of thoughts, feelings and imagery taken from walks in the landscape during winter 2020/2021. It is a large painting, made from a combination of oil and non-recyclable plastic on canvas, with the large sweeping black gestural marks ironed on to the raw hand stretched canvas before priming to show the way single use, non recyclable plastic is cutting into our landscape - our environment.
The whole painting composition is based around 3 x 6 pointed stars, as a nod to the divine through symmetry, structuring the majestic beauty of nature in a way that man can comprehend.
