This painting is one of a collection of 5 paintings of Rydal Mount from various locations. The view from Coffin Road is the only one of the collection where the view is from outside of the grounds or the house and shows the house almost enveloped by the foliage from the garden. I was Artist in residence at Rydal Mount from 2019 to 2020 and painted many views of the house and/ or gardens. I am interested in the relationship between people and nature, and this relationship is ever present in Rydal Mount, and I think, particularly this painting
